Our Philosophy
Sunnylea Child Care Centre exists to provide high quality childcare, that promotes the healthy growth and development of children. We value and respect each child’s differences and endeavour to build upon each child’s strengths. Our programs are designed to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child. We regard both our families and Sunnylea Junior School as partners in the process of providing the very best care and education for our children. Sunnylea Child Care Centre values inclusion and supports the rights of all children, regardless of their abilities, to participate actively in our setting. We strive to provide a high quality program in which we recognize each child as a unique individual and support that child in developing to his or her potential. The teachers of Sunnylea Child Care Centre work together with the children’s family and community agencies to ensure that his/her needs are met, as well as the needs of all the children. The objective of the Program is to provide a safe, secure, consistent, healthy and fun environment in which each child will:
- begin to build a positive self-image as an individual, as well as a member of a family and community (self-concept);
- learn to play and share experiences with others and to accept limits in terms of discipline and rules (socialization);
- acquire knowledge about the world and how it works, rules for solving problems and the ability to use language to represent ideas in abstract form (intellectual development);
- develop both gross and fine motor control and body co-ordination, while enjoying the benefits of good nutrition and outdoor activity (physical development).
